Itinerary

1

When you arrive in Luxor, the legendary city of the pharaohs, you will be welcomed by our Traviaz professional team and transferred to your elegant 5-star Nile cruise ship, marking the start of your 5-day Nile River Cruise from Luxor to Aswan. After you are checked-in, you will enjoy your sumptuous lunch before starting your guided tour with our professional Egyptologist.

The tour will begin with a visit to the monumental Karnak Temple Complex, which was constructed in 1971 BC and 20 BC; the largest religious site ever built. Devoted to the Theban Triad Amun, Mut, and Khonsu, Karnak was built over centuries, and its structure consists of towering pylons, sacred lakes, and the well-known Great Hypostyle Hall, with its forest of colossal columns.

After this, you will then proceed to visit the refined Luxor Temple. The temple offers an intriguing understanding of the ritual existence in antiquity since it is famous for its vast courtyard, colonnades, and the historic Avenue of Sphinxes.

At the end of the tour, you will be returned to your cruise ship, where you will be served dinner and hopefully have a serene night's rest as the river gently flows by.

After your delicious breakfast on the boat, your Traviaz professional Egyptologist will guide you to explore the legendary West Bank of Luxor, while comfortably traveling in a private air-conditioned vehicle.

You will start the tour with a trip to the Valley of the Kings, the royal cemetery of the New Kingdom (c. 1550-1070 BC). Here, you will explore a selection of richly decorated underground tombs belonging to powerful pharaohs such as Tutankhamun, Seti I, and Ramses II. Your guide will tell you about the burial practices, the carvings on the walls, and the beliefs regarding the afterlife that defined this great period in the history of ancient Egypt.

From here, you will visit the magnificent Temple of Queen Hatshepsut. This stylish terraced temple was constructed in the 15th century BC to honor one of the most successful female rulers of Egypt. The temple itself, as well as its reliefs, were dedicated to the god Amun and were designed not only with the motives of religious worship but also with the heritage of Queen Hatshepsut as a mighty pharaoh.

Carved directly into the mountainside, the magnificent Abu Simbel Temples were commissioned by Pharaoh Ramesses II as a powerful statement of divine authority and imperial strength.  These grandiose rock-cut temples are some of the greatest archaeological monuments of Egypt, depicting the strength, ambitions, and artistic capability of ancient Egypt. The Great Temple, inside, will leave you flabbergasted with giant sized accounts of some of the biggest military battles some of the biggest of the big military battles like the Battle of Kadesh- an event that saw the first documented peace treaty in the world.
Your guide will also explain the famous Abu Simbel Sun Festival, which takes place each year on February 22 and October 22, when sunlight reaches the inner sanctuary and illuminates the statues of Ramses II and the gods Amun, Ra-Horakhty, and Ptah--an extraordinary example of ancient astronomical precision.

As you conclude your 5-day Nile River Cruise from Luxor to Aswan, you will be transferred in a modern, air-conditioned vehicle to your hotel in Aswan or directly to the airport for your journey back home, marking the end of an exceptional Nile experience that is filled with history, comfort, and discovery.

After your delicious breakfast on the boat, your Traviaz professional Egyptologist will guide you to explore two of the Nile's most remarkable temples, while comfortably traveling in a private air-conditioned vehicle.

You will start the tour with a trip to the Temple of Edfu, considered to be one of the well-preserved temples in the whole of Egypt. It was devoted to the falcon god Horus, and the reliefs and hieroglyphs are so detailed that they bring to life the ancient Egyptian mythology of the legendary battle between Horus and his uncle Seth.

From here, you will visit the Temple of Kom Ombo. This distinctive double temple dates back to the Ptolemaic period and was dedicated to two deities, Sobek, the god of crocodiles, and Horus, the god of the falcon. The reliefs that are preserved in it provide interesting details on ancient Egyptian medicine, rituals, and everyday life. You will also get to admire its impressive carvings and the fascinating on-site Crocodile Museum, which sheds light on the sacred role these animals played in ancient belief systems.

After these iconic visits, you will return to your Nile cruise for a freshly prepared lunch before continuing along the river toward Aswan, while enjoying the peaceful scenery along the river.

Philae Temple is, to this day, one of the most ambient and eye-catching places along the Nile.

From here, you will visit the impressive Aswan High Dam, one of Egypt's greatest modern engineering achievements. You will get to understand how this dam controls the Nile's annual floods and provides hydroelectric power that supports millions of people and powers their houses.
