If your trip starts in Cairo, head first to the Giza Complex, home to the Pyramids of Giza. The first thing that amazes you is that it is not located in the middle of a desert as it may seem. It sits right in the middle of busy Cairo! Don’t be surprised if you spot a Five Guys restaurant just across the site. But that does not take away its relevance.
You can still see the delicate handiwork of the architects and stone masons when you stand close to the pyramids and the Great Sphinx. Whenever you’re ready to explore, you can walk around or just use a horse-drawn carriage.
From there, go to the Grand Egyptian Museum to explore its over 100,000 artifacts from different eras. You may spend half the day here because there is so much to see across its 12 large halls. So take your time, sightseeing in the museum.
If the trip takes you outside Cairo, you might want to explore the Western Desert. It gives you a completely different vibe from regular Egypt, you see in Upper Egypt, where the Nile dominates.
In Bahariya, for instance, you’ll see more tomb ruins and hot springs scattered across the small towns. Take some time to explore the area and get a feel for what the festive period looks like in local communities, and enjoy some of their delicacies.
Still in Bahariya, go to the Black Desert to see the black-speckled volcanic hills. It’s not something you see every day, so ensure you take some photos in the area.
Next, go into the Western Desert to the Farafra Oasis to explore the famous White Desert. You must have heard about its unique rock formations shaped by millions of years of wind erosion, but seeing it in person just hits differently. Take lots of pictures here and have fun identifying the shapes of the sand structures formed over time.
Don’t miss out on the camping experience at White Desert. You get to enjoy some quiet while eating traditional meals and hearing the guides tell stories. It’s also a great spot for stargazing and creating good memories with your companions.
There are also places in Upper Egypt you’d want to explore, so travel over to the historical sites in Luxor and Aswan.
Start at the East Bank in Luxor with a visit to the Karnak Temple. It’s so large that it houses many ancient structures, including the Sacred Lake, the 134-column Great Hypostyle Hall, and the Avenue of Sphinxes. Take your time here and take some photos for some memories
After touring the East Bank, the West Bank is next. It is called Theban Necropolis (City of the Dead) because it features the burial sites of Pharaohs and other royalty. The royal tombs and temples are said to give you a deeper understanding of ancient Egypt’s beliefs about the afterlife.
Next, go south to Aswan to see more of the Nile. Since many of its locations are accessible by the Nile, you will enjoy a boat cruise or a felucca ride at some points during your exploration.
If you are looking for a place to start here, we recommend Philae Temple on Agilkia Island. The temple is extraordinary, with vivid carvings that tell the stories of Isis and Osiris. If you can stay for the Light and Sound Show at night, you’d be pleased to watch the story unfold in a dramatic narration by the temple guard.
All through this nine-day trip, you’ll have so much to explore because the possibilities are endless. So get ready to have fun and enjoy a memorable Christmas journey across Egypt’s most beautiful locations.

After your sumptuous breakfast, you will explore the most famed Pyramids of Giza, like Khufu, Khafre, Menkaure, the Great Sphinx, etc with your professional Egyptologist guide from Traviaz
The Great Pyramid of Giza
Your tour starts at the Giza Pyramids Complex, home to the world-famous pyramids built during Egypt's Fourth Dynasty. Explore the biggest and oldest of the three pyramids, the Great Pyramid of Khufu constructed between 2580- 2560 BC. Once risen to a height of approximately 146 meters, this remarkable monument embodies the genius of engineering and architectural accuracy with which ancient Egypt was built.
Pyramid of Khafre
The second largest of the three pyramids on the Giza plateau is the pyramid of Khafre.
The pyramid was built as the royal tomb of Pharaoh Khafre in the fourth dynasty of the Old Kingdom. It is slightly smaller than the Great Pyramid; however, because of its higher level, it seems taller. The pyramid was composed mainly of huge blocks of limestone but had granite features in the burial chamber and some of the important internal passages. This is indicative of the highly developed engineering skills of ancient Egyptian constructors. It was originally covered with smooth white Tura limestone, which made it shine brightly in the desert sun. The pyramid is part of a bigger funerary complex that also contains the Valley Temple and the Great Sphinx, and underlines the architectural and religious importance of the reign of Khafre.
Pyramid of Menkaure
The Pyramid of Menkaure is the smallest of the three main pyramids on the Giza Plateau. The pyramid was originally approximately 65 meters. This is less than half the height of the nearby Pyramid of Khafre. Although smaller in size, it is still an amazing work of Old Kingdom engineering. The pyramid was mainly constructed from limestone. The lower courses of the pyramid were originally clad in fine white casing stones, while portions of the outer casing and internal structural elements were made from pink granite from Aswan. This combination of materials makes the pyramid have a unique aesthetic appearance. The series of horizontal lines of stone courses that are visible on its exterior is one of its most visible characteristics. This forms a stepped texture unlike the smoother look of the other pyramids at Giza. The pyramid is a component of a bigger funerary complex encompassing subsidiary pyramids and a valley temple, an indication of the architectural sophistication still in use in the Fourth Dynasty of Egypt.
The Great Sphinx
The Great Sphinx of Giza is a magnificent structure constructed out of limestone that has the body of a lion and also the face that is believed to represent Pharaoh Khafre. Our guide will explain its symbolism, mysteries, and the famous Dream Stele of Thutmose IV, which narrates a legend of the young prince and the dead Sphinx.
The Valley Temple
The Temple is an essential part of the Giza funerary complex. This highly preserved building was utilized in rituals of purification and mummification and provides a great deal of information about the mummification and burial practices and religious beliefs of ancient Egypt.
The Egyptian Museum
The Egyptian Museum houses a brilliant collection of artifacts that spans over 5000 years of Egyptian history. Among its priceless treasures are artifacts that had remained undiscovered for over 3,500 years, until the 20th century, when most of them were discovered. The biggest and most valuable collection of ancient Egyptian art can be found in this museum. It offers a unique and personal glimpse into the life and accomplishments of this great civilization. With your expert guide by your side, the stories behind these masterpieces will vividly come to life.
After completing your sightseeing tour, you will be transferred back to your hotel. The evening is free to relax and enjoy your stay before proceeding the next day with your trip through ancient Egypt.
