We’ll start this easter trip in Cairo at the Giza Plateau. You’ll be delighted to see the largest pyramid in Egypt, the Pyramid of Khufu. If you ever wondered what it looked like inside, there’s the King’s Chamber, the 47-meter-long Grand Gallery Passage, Queen’s Chamber, and the Subterranean Chamber. While it’s nearly empty now, like other Pyramids of Giza, you can still spend a few minutes admiring the architectural brilliance.
Next, you can explore the Grand Egyptian Museum. You’ll find out it is indeed grand with its impressive size and large collection of ancient artifacts. The major highlights in there include the Tutankhamun galleries with thousands of the King’s treasures and the Grand Staircase displaying artifacts from ancient Egypt.
As a history buff, you’d love Old Cairo’s historical depth. You’ll see a cluster of so many ancient sites in one area, which is not so common. While exploring, look out for the Hanging Church, Saints Sergius and Bacchus Church, Ben Ezra Synagogue, and the remains of the Babylon Fortress.
Islamic Cairo is also a place you’d want to see because of its historical background. Spend some time at Al-Muizz Street, explore the Al-Azhar Mosque area, and head into the Khan el-Khalili market to get some souvenirs, snacks, and handcrafted pieces.
Just when you think you’ve seen it all in Cairo, Luxor shows you the best of both ancient and modern Egypt. Get on a cruise boat and visit the sacred city of Karnak to see the Sacred Lake, Festival Hall of Thutmose III, Obelisks, and the open-air museum pieces. Truth be told, you may need a whole day to soak in all the beautiful architectural structures here.
We head over to the West Bank next to see the royal gravesites, and there are quite a few of them. Starting with the Valley of the Kings, you’ll learn and see the significance of the specially crafted tombs to the Pharaohs who desired a smooth journey into the afterlife.
The Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut has a different structure. You can see the temple above ground, and it is a temple for public worship, unlike the Valley of the Kings, which is an underground tomb. If you have time, also visit the Colossi of Memnon, Medinet Habu, and the Valley of the Queens on the west bank.
After your West Bank exploration, Sail south and pass through the Esna Lock, then visit the Temple of Khnum.
Your next stop is Aswan. In Aswan, you will be spending more time cruising the Nile since many of its temples are accessible by boat. Take that time to visit the Philae Temple, attend the Light and Sound show if you can, and spend a calm evening dining on the Nile.
There are more places to explore, so pack your bags and get ready for the most amazing easter on this 8-day Cairo and Nile cruise with TRAVAIZ.
Upon your arrival in Luxor, you will meet your private Egyptologist provided by Traviaz to start exploring the wonders of ancient Egyptian civilization along the East Bank of the Nile.
Your tour will begin with the awe-inspiring Karnak Temple Complex, one of the largest religious sites ever constructed. The complex was devoted to the Theban Triad Amun, Mut, and Khonsu. It was built over centuries, and its structure consists of towering pylons, sacred lakes, and the well-known Great Hypostyle Hall, with its forest of colossal columns
After the visit, you will return to the Nile cruise to relax and enjoy a freshly prepared lunch onboard.
You will then continue your trip to the beautifully preserved Luxor Temple that is gracefully situated in the heart of the city. The temple provides a captivating insight into the ceremonial life in ancient times because it is known for its grand courtyard, colonnades, and the historic Avenue of Sphinxes.
you will return to the Nile cruise in the evening to enjoy a delicious dinner while admiring the tranquil views of the Nile.

After breakfast, continue your Easter Nile Cruise with a guided excursion to the West Bank of Luxor, home to some of ancient Egypt’s most remarkable burial sites and monuments.
Your tour will begin at the Valley of the Kings, the royal cemetery of the New Kingdom (c. 1550-1070 BC). Here, you will explore a selection of richly decorated underground tombs belonging to powerful pharaohs such as Tutankhamun, Seti I, and Ramses II. Your guide will tell you about the burial practices, the carvings on the walls, and the beliefs regarding the afterlife that defined this great period in the history of ancient Egypt
After this, you will see the Colossi of Memnon, two massive seated statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III that once guarded the entrance to the Theban necropolis. These legendary monuments have been on the Theban plain for more than three millennia and still remain one of Luxor's most recognizable landmarks.
After completing your West Bank tour, you will return to the cruise ship as it continues sailing through Esna toward Edfu, where you will enjoy dinner and spend the night onboard.

After breakfast, you will continue your Easter Nile Cruise with a guided excursion to explore two of Upper Egypt’s most fascinating temples: Edfu and Kom Ombo.
You will start the tour with a visit to the Temple of Edfu. This temple is devoted to the falcon god Horus. The temple is considered to be one of the well-preserved temples in all of Egypt. The temple has a monumental pylon entrance, a spacious open courtyard, and grand hypostyle halls. The reliefs and hieroglyphs are so detailed that they bring to life the ancient Egyptian mythology of the legendary battle between Horus and his uncle Seth. Your Egyptologist guide will explain the religious significance, symbolism, and architectural brilliance that make Edfu Temple one of Egypt's most important sacred sites.
Your tour also includes a visit to the Temple of Kom Ombo. This distinctive double temple dates back to the Ptolemaic period and was dedicated to two deities, Sobek, the god of crocodiles, and Horus, the god of the falcon. The reliefs that are preserved in it provide interesting details on ancient Egyptian medicine, rituals, and everyday life. You will be marveled at its magnificent carvings and the intriguing on-site Crocodile Museum that sheds light on the sacred role these animals played in ancient belief systems. The symmetrical design embodies the ancient Egyptian concept of balance and duality. You'll find some remarkable reliefs inside the temple that show ancient surgical and medical instruments.
After you are done with the tours, the team will return you to the Nile cruise where you will have a sumptuous dinner and spend the night onboard, while sailing along the timeless waters of the Nile.

After enjoying breakfast, continue your 5-day Easter vacation in Egypt with a guided tour to explore Aswan’s most remarkable landmarks.
Your first stop is the Aswan High Dam, a landmark of modern Egyptian engineering. The dam was completed in the 20 th century, and it is very important in controlling the floods along the Nile, generating hydroelectric power, and creating one of the largest artificial lakes in the world, Lake Nasser.
Next, you will visit the Unfinished Obelisk, located in the ancient granite quarries of Aswan. This obelisk was commissioned by Queen Hatshepsut, and was meant to be the tallest obelisk in the history of its construction. During its carving, cracks were found that led to the abandonment of the project, leaving behind the rare and valuable experience of the ancient Egyptian method of stone-cutting
Continue your tour to the beautiful Philae Temple, dedicated primarily to the goddess Isis. Dating back to the Greco-Roman period(380-362 BC), this temple is closely associated with the myth of Osiris, his death at the hands of Set, and his resurrection through the devotion of Isis. Philae Temple is, to this day, one of the most ambient and eye-catching places along the Nile
After completing your Aswan sightseeing tour, you will return to your Nile cruise to relax and continue your unforgettable journey along the Nile.
