Your adventure begins in Luxor, the ancient city formerly known as Thebes. Usually, people start from the Karnak Temple because it is one of the main attractions and it holds so many courts, pylons, temples, and sanctuaries. But you may start with a hot air balloon ride at sunrise. It will give you a bird's-eye view of the temples, farmland, and the Nile itself.
Back on the ground, you will visit the Valley of Kings, the burial sites of Pharaohs and men of stature during the ancient Egyptian era. The Valley of Queens is also nearby, with its colorful tombs and shorter walking distance.
Next is the Colossi of Memnon. The two massive seated statues are an absolute joy to see in the open field. They are picture-worthy, so make sure to take lots of them.
The Medinet Habu is family-friendly and less crowded than most of the other temples. You can walk through its wide courtyards, exploring the detailed wall carvings and impressive architecture.
Before leaving Luxor, you can go for a relaxed trip to the Banana Island by boat before returning to the cruise.
In Aswan, you can start at the Unfinished Obelisk. Unfinished, but you can stop by to appreciate the process of carving monuments directly from the ground.
Next, we head over to the colorful Nubian Museum. It is one of the most interactive museums in Egypt. They tell you about the Nubian history, music, clothing, and culture.
You can take a short felucca ride to the Aswan Botanical Garden and maybe to Elephantine Island too. Both are worth visiting; the botanical garden for the scenic view, and the island to view the ancient temples.
In short, this 4-day family Nile cruise package brings you variety. So, put on your adventure cap for an amazing time with TRAVIAZ.
Upon arrival at the airport, the family will be warmly welcomed and assisted by a representative from Traviaz. This marks the beginning of your Nile Cruise Family Adventure—4 Days in Egypt. With the help of our professional Egyptologist guide, you will be exploring the highlights of Aswan, which is known for its scenic beauty and rich history.
Your first stop is the Aswan High Dam, a landmark of modern Egyptian engineering. The dam was completed in the 20 th century, and it is very important in controlling the floods along the Nile, generating hydroelectric power, and creating one of the largest artificial lakes in the world, Lake Nasser.
The unfinished Obelisk
Next, you will visit the Unfinished Obelisk, located in the ancient granite quarries of Aswan. This obelisk was commissioned by Queen Hatshepsut, and was meant to be the tallest obelisk in the history of its construction. During its carving, cracks were found that led to the abandonment of the project, leaving behind the rare and valuable experience of the ancient Egyptian method of stone-cutting.
Philae Temple
Continue your tour to the beautiful Philae Temple, dedicated primarily to the goddess Isis. Dating back to the Greco-Roman period(380-362 BC), this temple is closely associated with the myth of Osiris, his death at the hands of Set, and his resurrection through the devotion of Isis. Philae Temple is, to this day, one of the most ambient and eye-catching places along the Nile.
After a day rich in history and discovery, the family will be transferred by TRAVIAZ to the cruise ship for lunch and dinner as you continue sailing along the Nile.
Accommodation: On board the Nile Cruise

The second day of your memorable family tour will start with a glorious breakfast. After the sumptuous breakfast, the whole family will set out to explore two of Upper Egypt’s most distinctive temples. Of course, you will be accompanied by our expert Egyptologist guide from Traviaz.
Your tour will start with a visit to the Temple of Kom Ombo. This distinctive double temple dates back to the Ptolemaic period and was dedicated to two deities, Sobek, the god of crocodiles, and Horus, the god of the falcon. The reliefs that are preserved in it provide interesting details on ancient Egyptian medicine, rituals, and everyday life.
You will be marveled at its magnificent carvings and the intriguing on-site Crocodile Museum that sheds light on the sacred role these animals played in ancient belief systems. The symmetrical design embodies the ancient Egyptian concept of balance and duality. You'll find some remarkable reliefs inside the temple that show ancient surgical and medical instruments.
Your next visit will be to the Temple of Edfu, devoted to the falcon god Horus. The temple is considered to be one of the well-preserved temples in all of Egypt.
The temple has a monumental pylon entrance, a spacious open courtyard, and grand hypostyle halls. The reliefs and hieroglyphs are so detailed that they bring to life the ancient Egyptian mythology of the legendary battle between Horus and his uncle Seth. Your Egyptologist guide will explain the religious significance, symbolism, and architectural brilliance that make Edfu Temple one of Egypt's most important sacred sites.
After you are done with the tours, the team will return you to the Nile cruise where you will have a sumptuous dinner and spend the night onboard, while sailing along the timeless waters of the Nile.

After having a sumptuous breakfast, you will begin another remarkable day of your family tour with your professional TRAVIAZ Egyptologist guide by exploring some of Luxor’s most celebrated ancient sites.
Your first stop will be at the legendary Valley of the Kings, the royal cemetery of the New Kingdom (c. 1550-1070 BC). Here, you will explore a selection of richly decorated underground tombs belonging to powerful pharaohs such as Tutankhamun, Seti I, and Ramses II. Your guide will tell you about the burial practices, the carvings on the walls, and the beliefs regarding the afterlife that defined this great period in the history of ancient Egypt
Next, you will visit the impressive Temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari. This stylish terraced temple was constructed in the 15th century BC to honor one of the most successful female rulers of Egypt. The temple itself, as well as its reliefs, were dedicated to the god Amun and were designed not only with the motives of religious worship but also with the heritage of Queen Hatshepsut as a mighty pharaoh.
After this, you will see the Colossi of Memnon, two massive seated statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III that once guarded the entrance to the Theban necropolis. These iconic monuments have stood on the Theban plain for over three millenia and they remain one of Luxor's most recognizable landmarks.
You will also explore the vast Karnak Temple Complex. The complex dates back to 1971 BC and 20 BC, and it is the largest religious site ever built. Devoted to the Theban Triad Amun, Mut, and Khonsu, Karnak was built over centuries, and its structure consists of towering pylons, sacred lakes, and the well-known Great Hypostyle Hall, with its forest of colossal columns.
After you are done with the tour, the team will return the family to the Nile cruise, where you will have a sumptuous dinner and spend the night onboard, while sailing along the timeless waters of the Nile.
