Description

We are starting your adventure in Cairo, Egypt’s capital, which is often tagged the most lively city. Most people can’t wait to see the pyramids of Giza, so of course, that’s our first stop. You’ll see the massive pyramids of Giza, the Great Sphinx, and the mini Solar Boat Museum. Take your time walking around them and appreciating the architectural skills that went into building them.

The next location is most probably the Grand Egyptian Museum because it's so close to Giza. There are thousands of artifacts that have survived through time and are still standing today, including the famed relics of King Tutankhamun.

On your second day, check out Coptic Cairo to explore its cluster of historical churches, mosques, and temples. You can go from there to Tahrir Square to see the Egyptian Museum, where there’s so much to learn about ancient Egypt.

Next, head over to the southern city of Aswan to enjoy some peaceful scenery and spend an unforgettable family time exploring the Nubian culture.

The best way to tour Aswan is via comfy felucca rides on the Nile. There are a bunch of islands and gardens that you can only see if you hop on a cruise boat or felucca. Start your tour at the dedicated site of Isis, the Philae Temple, on an island. They hold a light and sound show to take you back in time and tell the story of the goddess Isis and Osiris.

Nearby, you can visit Elephantine Island to see the ruins of the Temple of Khnum, the Temple of Satis, the Aswan Museum, and a couple of Nubian Villages. You can also check out the Unfinished Obelisk to appreciate the ancient carving technique used to form the monument.

Before leaving Aswan, head over to the Aswan Bazaar with your family to shop for souvenirs and keepsakes.

Go to Luxor next for some amazing family time visiting spots like the Colossi of Memnon, Valley of the Kings, Karnak Temple, and some museums.

Start at the East Bank and visit Karnak Temple, and then the Luxor Temple. From the statues, wall carvings, sanctuaries, and pylons, you can catch a glimpse into the ancient Egyptian culture and their sacred beliefs.

On the West Bank, the ambiance is quite different at the Valley of the Kings. From the outside, you’d think the space was empty until you stepped into the underground chambers to see the tombs. When the site was first discovered, it was said to contain treasures and materials the Pharaohs believed they needed to enter the afterlife.

On the same line, other places you want to check include the Valley of Queens, the temple of Queen Hatshepsut, and the Colossi of Memnon.

End your 10-day trip at Hurghada, snorkeling in the Red Sea, kayaking, and boat cruising. Hurghada gives you a more relaxed atmosphere to wind down and enjoy sea adventures and greenery on the islands.

10 days seems like a long time, but there's no running out of things to do in Cairo, Luxor, Aswan, and Hurghada. It’s a trip that will keep your family talking for years.

Meals: Dinner | Overnight: Hotel in Cairo.

After having a sumptuous breakfast at your hotel, the family will set out to explore the Egyptian pyramids in Giza with your professional Egyptologist guide from TRAVIAZ.

Giza Pyramid

Your tour starts at the Giza Pyramids Complex, home to the world-famous pyramids built during Egypt's Fourth Dynasty. Explore the biggest and oldest of the three pyramids, the Great Pyramid of Khufu constructed between 2580- 2560 BC. Once risen to a height of approximately 146 meters, this remarkable monument embodies the genius of engineering and architectural accuracy with which ancient Egypt was built.

The Egyptian Museum

The Egyptian Museum houses a brilliant collection of artifacts that spans over 5000 years of Egyptian history. Among its priceless treasures are artifacts that had remained undiscovered for over 3,500 years, until the 20th century, when most of them were discovered. The biggest and most valuable collection of ancient Egyptian art can be found in this museum. It offers a unique and personal glimpse into the life and accomplishments of this great civilization. With your expert guide by your side, the stories behind these masterpieces will vividly come to life.

After this, the whole family will have lunch at a wonderful restaurant overlooking the Nile and the Pyramid before heading off with an Egyptologist to explore the Saqqara Pyramid.

The Step Pyramid of Saqqara

The Step Pyramid of Djoser is considered to be the world’s earliest large-scale stone monument. The monument was built between 2670 BC and 2650 BC This six-tiered structure began as a traditional mastaba before being expanded into a revolutionary stepped design for Pharaoh Djoser’s funerary complex.

Designed by the brilliant architect Imhotep, the pyramid marked a major turning point in ancient Egyptian architecture and royal burial traditions.

Located within the Saqqara is a complex that includes courtyards, temples, ceremonial structures, and symbolic shrines that reflect the religious beliefs of the Old Kingdom.

At the end of the day, the team will transfer the family to the Hotel for a well-deserved rest.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch | Overnight: Hotel in Cairo.

After having a sumptuous breakfast at your hotel, the team will transfer the family to the airport to travel to Aswan. Upon arrival, you will meet your professional Egyptologist guide from TRAVIAZ before going to the:

The High Dam
Your first stop is the Aswan High Dam, a landmark of modern Egyptian engineering. The dam was completed in the 20 th century, and it is very important in controlling the floods along the Nile, generating hydroelectric power, and creating one of the largest artificial lakes in the world, Lake Nasser.

The incomplete Obelisk

Next, you will visit the Unfinished Obelisk, located in the ancient granite quarries of Aswan. This obelisk was commissioned by Queen Hatshepsut, and was meant to be the tallest obelisk in the history of its construction. During its carving, cracks were found that led to the abandonment of the project, leaving behind the rare and valuable experience of the ancient Egyptian method of stone-cutting.

Philae Temple

Continue your tour to the beautiful Philae Temple, dedicated primarily to the goddess Isis. Dating back to the Greco-Roman period(380-362 BC), this temple is closely associated with the myth of Osiris, his death at the hands of Set, and his resurrection through the devotion of Isis. Philae Temple is, to this day, one of the most ambient and eye-catching places along the Nile.

After that, the team will transport the entire family to the elegant 5-star Nile cruise ship for check-in. Here, the family will enjoy your sumptuous lunch and dinner onboard, followed by a relaxing overnight stay as you continue enjoying Fantastic Family Time in Egypt for 10 Days.

This distinctive double temple dates back to the Ptolemaic period and was dedicated to two deities, Sobek, the god of crocodiles, and Horus, the god of the falcon. The reliefs that are preserved in it provide interesting details on ancient Egyptian medicine, rituals, and everyday life.

You will be marveled at its magnificent carvings and the intriguing on-site Crocodile Museum that sheds light on the sacred role these animals played in ancient belief systems. The symmetrical design embodies the ancient Egyptian concept of balance and duality. You'll find some remarkable reliefs inside the temple that show ancient surgical and medical instruments.

After a day rich in history and discovery, the family will be transferred by TRAVIAZ to the cruise ship for lunch and dinner as you continue sailing along the Nile.

Karnak Temple

You will also explore the vast Karnak Temple Complex. The complex dates back to 1971 BC and 20 BC, and it is the largest religious site ever built. Devoted to the Theban Triad Amun, Mut, and Khonsu,  Karnak was built over centuries, and its structure consists of towering pylons, sacred lakes, and the well-known Great Hypostyle Hall, with its forest of colossal columns.
