Description

The fantastic Old Cairo, which is often called Coptic Cairo or historic Cairo, tour helps you to discover the history that shaped the old Cairo to what it is today, enlightening you about Egypt's religious, cultural, and architectural heritage.

The tour begins with you being privately picked up from your hotel and driven to Old Cairo with your professional guide from Traviaz. The first stop is the Coptic Cairo, which is full of old churches, narrow pathways, and stone walls, and some of them include: the hanging church or also known as the church of Saint Virgin Mary, where the wooden ceiling is constructed in the form of the Noah ark, Church of St. Sergius (Abu Serga), and Ben Ezra Synagogue. Khan El-Khalili and the old Streets are also places to visit.

The next thing you will see as you proceed with the tour is the Babylon Fortress, where this time, you are simply walking on the stones that have been there for almost 2,000 years. You also may have an opportunity to visit the Muslim section of Cairo, where you will find things such as Grand mosques, tall minarets, among many others, and the history of how they expanded once the Arabs conquered it.

By the end of the trip, you would have had a full day of things to discuss and make you feel part of the Cairo past.

Next, you will visit the Citadel of Salah El-Din. Constructed during the 12th century, it provides spectacular views of the capital, and it houses the great Mosque of Muhammad Ali Pasha, with its towering domes and magnificent Ottoman structures. You will also visit the Military and Police Museums, where the modern and medieval history of Egypt comes to life.
