Description

Your 9-day journey begins in Cairo, where you get the best of both earlier and modern Egypt. Start at the Giza Plateau, take a stroll around to see all three major pyramids and the Great Sphinx. Stop by Panorama Point to take some amazing photos and create memories.

Explore the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) nearby and also the National Museum of Egyptian civilization (NMEC) if you’re a history buff.

After you’re satisfied with your museum tours, go to the Al-Ahzar Park to enjoy an evening stroll through the gardens. From there, explore the Coptic Orthodox Church and Islamic Cairo to see centuries-old mosques and sanctuaries.

From Cairo, go north to Alexandria, starting with the Bibliotheca Alexandrina. The library is a modern architectural building that pays its tribute to the old Library of Alexandria, which unfortunately burned to the ground, taking so many ancient records with it.

The Citadel of Qaitbay is also one place you want to visit to see what strong defence it provided against Cairo’s enemies. You can also pause for a bit to watch the sea shimmering as the sunlight touches it.

If you want something more adventurous, visit the Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa and the Graeco-Roman Museum to see the burial complex that blends the Greek, Roman, and Egyptian cultures.

Next, go southward to Luxor to see the famous Valley of Kings hidden in plain sight. You can also visit the Valley of Queens, Ramesseum, the Colossi of Memnon, and the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut to see the burial sites of great Pharaohs and the temples dedicated to them.

Don’t skip a visit to the Karnak Temple to see the Hypostyle Hall, chapels, and sanctuaries. The carvings on the walls tell you the stories of the rituals and ancient rites performed in the New Kingdom.

By late afternoon, you can take a horse-drawn carriage ride around the Luxor Temple and to explore the surrounding streets.

After Luxor, go over to Aswan for an amazing time on the Nile. You can hop on a cruise boat to explore the islands, temples, and villages. Some of the places you should visit are the Philae Temple, Aswan Botanical Gardens, and the Nubian Village.

To wrap up the trip in style, drive to Abu Simbel to see the colossal statues of the legendary Ramesses II and his family, carved into the cliffside.

Karnak Temples

Your trip begins at the Karnak Temples, one of the largest religious structures ever built in Egypt. In some quarters, it is also known as the Great Temple of Amun. This particular temple was built to honor Amun-Ra, one of the most important deities of ancient times in Egypt.

This temple has always managed to retain its spot as one of the most desirable spots for visitors in Egypt. According to archaeological findings, it is one of the largest wonders of ancient culture, and it has remained proof of the capacity of the earliest inhabitants of Egypt. The Karnak Temples was one that served as a major religious center for ages, and it is also known as the spot where the Pharaohs used to perform the many rituals to cement their rule.

As you pass through this ancient monument, it is certain that you will be in awe of the knowledge of the ancient Egyptians, and all they were able to achieve without the knowledge of the current age. Imagine walking through and taking in thousands of years in human history all in that moment? That is what Traviaz Group Tours is offering you when you choose to trust us.

At the Karnak Temples, you will see and experience the following:

First, you will walk through the Pylons, the chapels, and the several temples in this particular building. The most famous of them is the ‘Precinct of Amun-Re’, which is the most visited part of the whole site. You will also get to pass through the beautiful courtyard that hosted the grand ceremonies of the Pharaohs.

The architecture of the Karnak temple is particularly stunning. Some of the features that will stand out and wow a first-time visitor are the Obelisks with the Hieroglyphs (Ancient Egyptian writing) on them. The Sphinxes, obelisks, and the peculiarities of the Hypostyle hall, altogether tell the stories of the pharaohs that ruled in this place.

Ancient Egypt as a whole always took time with their buildings. Masterfully crafted columns, shapings, and writings that continue to wow researchers to this day. In the Hypostyle hall, you will see the 134 massive columns that make up this place, and they all form a forest-like appearance, making the entire arrangement one of the most impressive places in the world.

Imagine walking into a place, a monument that has continued to wow its audiences globally. In the Karnak temple, you will get to view and go through the sacred sanctuaries, the obelisks (As we mentioned earlier), the sacred lakes, chapels, etc. All of which has been intricately designed and, together, makes you appreciate the practices of the ancient Egyptians.

Finally, at the Karnak temple, we have arranged for an expert Egyptologist to accompany you on your sightseeing tour and explain how the pharaohs expanded Karnak and contributed to its massive growth over the years. The Egyptologist will explain the pharaohs' distinctive system of governance and how it reflected the country's overall wealth and ambition at the height of its power.

Unlike your experience in the temple, this will be a different one entirely; as in here you will have the opportunity to experience what it means to live and work in the city. You will be able to get a feel for the local pulse of the city.

The Sphinxes link the Karnak and the Luxor temples together. You will see this as our guide leads you through these monuments. It is known that while the Karnak temple was focused on the afterlife, the Luxor temple was more like a general one, focused on the king and the important religious festivals of the time.

On the grounds of the Luxor temple, you will get to admire and take in all the beauty and wonder of the statues that have withstood the tests of time over and over. Our guide will also explain to you just how all the structures you are seeing tie to the cultural practices of the people of ancient Egypt. It was here that prominent pharaohs such as Amenhotep III and Ramses II left their mark. One we still marvel at to this day.

It is also at this point that our Egyptologist will explain how this temple was used during the annual Opet festival and where the gods were carried in a solemn procession from Karnak to Luxor. Luxor as a whole is a city that offers visitors a rich mix of ancient Egyptian life and makes them wonder how this has seamlessly blended with modern features that now dot the city’s landscape
