Description

If you paid attention to the way we have been curating our packages so far, we want you to enjoy the true essence of Egypt on a reasonable budget. We continue in the same way with this memorable cruise of Luxor and Aswan.

This 3-day Nile cruise, while visiting Luxor and Aswan, is designed for those who want to experience the upper reaches of Egypt in a short time and on a budget. For this package, we will accompany you to visit the iconic landmarks that have defined the Egyptian tourism industry, and also enjoy pleasurable sailing on the River Nile; this way, we intend to combine getting cultural insights with optimum relaxation.

On this package, we will start our trip from either Luxor or Aswan, depending on the vibe the weather is giving us. Then we will check you into your cabin, and as the cruise starts, you will be able to either enjoy the calm of the River, or sink into the chill of your cabin to either read a book, or catch up on some other commitments. However, one bonus for you in all is that you will be able to watch as the day progressively changes on the bank of the ancient river.

As the cruise continues, we will pass through different parts of the Egyptian countryside, and you will see how the daily lives of the populace change depending on their culture. From farming settlements to the local restaurants, etc. This is for you to fully appreciate the true Egyptian spirit.

For this 3-day tour, we will be visiting some, if not all, of the iconic landmarks that define the cities of Luxor and Aswan. This is with the inclusion of the sites in the cities in between them. Then, as this cruise will be arranged to perfectly fit your schedule, during the three-day visit to these sites, we have taken the time to provide the touring group with an experienced guide to explain the cultural significance of each of the archaeological sites in the cities of Luxor and Aswan, and those in between them.

Because we truly prioritise you at Traviz Group Tours, we have arranged the visits on this cruise to fit perfectly into your normal schedule. This is so you do not have to worry about planning separately, transportation, or the overall timing on your own. We will do the 'Heavy Lifting' for you; all you need to do is just come and enjoy yourself. Our guide will also be on the ground to ensure these visits are meaningful, so you do not feel you have wasted time.

For this cruise, we have made sure to provide tasty meals on the ship. There will also be time to relax in between your visits to the landmark locations, so while you are cruising on the Nile River, you are sipping a glass of your favorite cocktail and munching on some of the best meals that Egypt has to offer.

As the cruise continues, our goal is for you to be able to do anything you want to. You can choose to either go sightseeing on the deck or, as we said earlier, relax in your cabin. Then, as we have made this package as cost-effective as possible, the goal is to make sure we do not compromise on your comfort.

The cruise on the River Nile is ideal for tourists who do not have the time to wait for so long. This package includes a great deal of cultural discovery, relaxation, and comfort for tourists. If you are traveling alone, as a couple, or with friends, then this tour package is good for you.

Itinerary

1

Begin your Nile Cruise journey in Aswan with a guided sightseeing tour arranged by Traviaz, offering an excellent introduction to Egypt’s ancient and modern landmarks.

Start your day with a visit to the High Dam of Aswan. A landmark of modern Egyptian engineering. The dam was completed in the 20th century and is very important for controlling floods along the Nile, generating hydroelectric power, and creating one of the largest artificial lakes in the world, Lake Nasser.

Next, you will visit the Unfinished Obelisk, located in the ancient granite quarries of Aswan. This obelisk was commissioned by Queen Hatshepsut and was meant to be the tallest obelisk in the history of its construction. During its carving, cracks were found that led to the abandonment of the project, leaving behind the rare and valuable experience of the ancient Egyptian method of stone-cutting.

Continue your tour to the beautiful Philae Temple, dedicated primarily to the goddess Isis. Dating back to the Greco-Roman period(380-362 BC), this temple is closely associated with the myth of Osiris, his death at the hands of Set, and his resurrection through the devotion of Isis. Philae Temple is, to this day, one of the most ambient and eye-catching places along the Nile.

After lunch, you will board the Nile Cruise and enjoy a relaxing felucca ride on the Nile in the afternoon.  In the evening, you may choose to attend the optional Sound and Light Show at Philae Temple or relax on board the cruise.

2

Start your day sailing along the Nile toward Kom Ombo, where you will visit the unique Temple of Kom Ombo with your Egyptologist guide arranged by Traviaz. This distinctive double temple dates back to the Ptolemaic period and is uniquely dedicated to two gods--Sobek, the crocodile god, and Horus, the falcon god. Its beautifully preserved reliefs offer intriguing insight into ancient Egyptian medicine, rituals, and daily life. You will be marveled at its magnificent carvings and the intriguing on-site Crocodile Museum that sheds light on the sacred role these animals played in ancient belief systems. The symmetrical design embodies the ancient Egyptian concept of balance and duality. You'll find some remarkable reliefs inside the temple that show ancient surgical and medical instruments.

Continue sailing to Edfu to explore the impressive Temple of Horus. The temple is considered to be one of the well-preserved temples in all of Egypt. The temple has a monumental pylon entrance, a spacious open courtyard, and grand hypostyle halls. The reliefs and hieroglyphs are so detailed that they bring to life the ancient Egyptian mythology of the legendary battle between Horus and his uncle Seth. Your Egyptologist guide will explain the religious significance, symbolism, and architectural brilliance that make Edfu Temple one of Egypt's most important sacred sites.

After you are done with the tours, the team will return you to the Nile cruise where you will have a sumptuous dinner and spend the night onboard, while sailing along the timeless waters of the Nile.

3

After enjoying breakfast on board your Nile cruise, set out for a full day of sightseeing on both Luxor’s West Bank and East Bank with your Egyptologist guide arranged by Traviaz.

Luxor West Bank

Valley of the Kings

The trip will begin with a visit to the Valley of the Kings, the royal cemetery of the New Kingdom (c. 1550-1070 BC). Here, you will explore a selection of richly decorated underground tombs belonging to powerful pharaohs such as Tutankhamun, Seti I, and Ramses II. Your guide will tell you about the burial practices, the carvings on the walls, and the beliefs regarding the afterlife that defined this great period in the history of ancient Egypt.

The Temple of Hatshepsut

Next, you will visit the impressive Temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari. This stylish terraced temple was constructed in the 15th century BC to honor one of the most successful female rulers of Egypt. The temple itself, as well as its reliefs, were dedicated to the god Amun and were designed not only with the motives of religious worship but also with the heritage of Queen Hatshepsut as a mighty pharaoh.

Colossi of Memnon

After this, you will see the Colossi of Memnon, two massive seated statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III that once guarded the entrance to the Theban necropolis. These iconic monuments have stood on the Theban plain for over three thousand years and remain one of Luxor's most recognizable landmarks.

Luxor East Bank

Cross to the East Bank to explore the grand Karnak Temple Complex, dating back to 1971 BC and 20 BC, the largest religious site ever built. Devoted to the Theban Triad Amun, Mut, and Khonsu,  Karnak was built over centuries, and its structure consists of towering pylons, sacred lakes, and the well-known Great Hypostyle Hall, with its forest of colossal columns

You will then continue your trip to the beautifully preserved Luxor Temple that is gracefully situated in the heart of the city. The temple provides a captivating insight into the ceremonial life in ancient times because it is known for its grand courtyard, colonnades, and the historic Avenue of Sphinxes

In the evening, you may choose to attend the optional Sound and Light Show at Karnak Temple or return to your Nile cruise to relax and enjoy the atmosphere on board.
