Description

No visit to Cairo is ever complete without a visit to the Giza Plateau. So, we’ll begin our tour through Egypt over there to see the pyramids and the Great Sphinx. These monuments are over 4500 years old, and standing next to them brings that number to life.

Next, we hit the Grand Egyptian Museum for a journey through time while checking its over 100,000 ancient displays. Beyond Giza, Old Cairo welcomes you to a fortress of Museums, Mosques, Markets, and Churches. Walk through the historic cities to experience what the daya to day looks like.

You’ll have time to explore specific sites like the Hanging Church, the Egyptian Museum, and the Citadel of Salah al-Din al-Ayyubi. You can wind down with a relaxing felucca trip on the Nile as you take in the views of the city.

From there, head over to Alexandria to explore the Greco-Roman culture since it is more prominent there. One of the places to see is the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, built in place of the ancient library that once stood in its place. Ensure you spend time at the planetarium science center. The structure itself is a sight to behold, but stepping inside is a whole experience you should not miss.

Not far away, the Citadel of Qaitbay beckons you to explore. Stand on its rampart to get a sweeping view of the Mediterranean and the clustered city. Other places you want to check include the Catacombs of Kon El Shoqafa, an underground burial complex, and Pompey’s Pillar near the ancient temple ruins.

When you’re done in Alexandria, turn to the Bahariya Oasis to spend time at the famous White Desert. It’s a completely different world out there with dunes and natural springs, small villages, and desert hills.

From there, go on to explore the White Desert. Marvel at the chalky white monuments formed by a thousand years of wind. One of the most memorable parts of visiting White Desert is camping under the stars. The ambiance makes it feel like you time-traveled into the past.

This trip is carefully planned to allow smooth transfers, optimum visits, and a comfortable touring experience. In the end, you’ll have created unforgettable movies that stick for a long time.

Enormous Sphinx in Giza

The Great Sphinx of Giza is a magnificent structure constructed out of limestone that has the body of a lion and also the face that is believed to represent Pharaoh Khafre. Our guide will explain its symbolism, mysteries, and the famous Dream Stele of Thutmose IV, which narrates a legend of the young prince and the dead Sphinx.

Temple in the Valley

The next visit is a trip to the Valley Temple, an essential part of the Giza funerary complex.
This highly preserved building was utilized in rituals of purification and mummification and provides a great deal of information about the mummification and burial practices and religious beliefs of ancient Egypt.

Memphis City

Memphis was once the capital of ancient Egypt and was founded around 3100 BCE by the legendary king Menes. The city used to be a center of power, religion, and culture, which is why it is also home to magnificent structures like the Great Temple of Ptah and the Temple of Apis. You will also see the amazing statue of Ramses II as you explore the open-air museum- a reminder of how great the city used to be.

Saqqara

You will also visit the Saqqara, the ancient necropolis of Egypt. Here stands the legendary Step Pyramid of Djoser that was constructed around 2600 BCE and is commonly referred to as the first pyramid in the world. The revolutionary building, designed by the great architect Imhotep, was a breakthrough in the history of architecture and the basis of all the pyramids that followed.

Bibliotheca Alexandrina

It is also known as the modern Library of Alexandria. This library is home to millions of books, manuscripts, museums, and cultural centres, thus symbolising Alexandria's enduring legacy as a centre of knowledge and learning.

Pompey's Pillar

You will also visit Pompey's Pillar, a towering granite column dedicated to the Roman Emperor Diocletian. The monument is one of the well-preserved Roman structures in Alexandria. The area contains additional ruins that reflect the city's rich Greco-Roman past.

Citadel of Qaitbay

The next stop will be to the awe-inspiring Citadel of Qaitbay, a 15th -century fort that was constructed by Sultan Qaitbay to protect Alexandria against invasion by foreigners. The citadel is at the same location as the ancient Pharos Lighthouse, which was among the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The citadel used to be an ancient military fortress and a naval base with breathtaking Mediterranean Sea views.

Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa

The catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa are one of Alexandria's most remarkable ancient sites. The catacombs were accidentally discovered in 1900 when a donkey fell into a hidden shaft, revealing the tombs below. This underground burial complex dates back to the Roman era, and it shows an exceptional combination of Egyptian, Greek, and Roman architectural styles.

Egyptian Museum

The Egyptian Museum houses a brilliant collection of artifacts that spans over 5000 years of Egyptian history. Among its priceless treasures are artifacts that had remained undiscovered for over 3,500 years, until the 20th century, when most of them were discovered. The biggest and most valuable collection of ancient Egyptian art can be found in this museum. It offers a unique and personal glimpse into the life and accomplishments of this great civilization. With your expert guide by your side, the stories behind these masterpieces will vividly come to life.

Citadel of Salah El Din

You will visit the Citadel of Saladin, a medieval fortress that once served as the seat of Egypt’s rulers. Inside the citadel, you will visit the iconic Mosque of Muhammad Ali. The mosque is renowned due to its large Ottoman-style and alabaster interior. The massive fortress was built in the late 12th century by Sultan Salah El Din Al-Ayyubi to protect Cairo from Crusader attacks. Because of the strategic location, the citadel served as Egypt’s seat of government for many centuries. During your visit, you will learn about its defensive architecture and the famous Yusuf Well that supplied water to the fortress.

Ben Ezra Synagogue

One of the most important places in Old Cairo is the Hanging Church, the oldest Christian church in Egypt, which is known for its gorgeous icons and elevated design. Near the hanging church is the Ben Ezra Synagogue, which is believed to have been the place where the baby Moses was found, which is another great depth to the spiritual heritage of the area.

A representative of TRAVIAZ will take you back to your hotel at the end of your tour, so you can have a very nice evening in Cairo.

After having a delicious breakfast in your hotel, you will meet your personal Egyptologist guide from Traviaz, who will accompany you to explore the stunning Bahariya Oasis. The journey covers approximately 360 kilometres and should take about 4 hours.

Black Desert

You begin your trip with a visit to the spectacular Black Desert. This desert is named for the black volcanic basalt rocks that are scattered all over its golden sands. The landscape is defined by blackened hills formed by ancient volcanic activity. This creates a dramatic contrast against the surrounding desert and red sandstone formations.

El Haize Oasis

Your next stop will be at El Haize Oasis. It is sometimes known as St. George Oasis.

You will find several natural springs, including Ain El-Ris, Ain El-Izzah, Ain El-Sheikh, and Tabla Amun, which once sustained ancient settlements.

The excavations done by Archeologists in the early 20th century revealed evidence of human habitation. This emphasizes the vital role of water sources in sustaining life in the desert.

Crystal Mountain

Your next stop will be at Crystal Mountain. This is a remarkable geological formation scattered with shimmering quartz and calcite crystals. Although embedded crystals are protectedbut it is possible to find the loose crystals on the floor. The naturally occurring calcite crystal arch is one of the biggest attractions in this site.

Geologists believe this striking structure was once part of an ancient cave system filled with stalactites and stalagmites, which were gradually exposed by erosion.

White Desert & Camping Experience

You will also explore the amazing White Desert. Here, you will have a delicious lunch surrounded by fantastic limestone structures, which are carved by the wind and time.

The landscape will turn to gentle tints of gold and pink as the sun starts twilighting.

You will camp in a cozy desert camp in the evening, absorb the calmness of the surroundings, and spend the night with a clear sky full of stars.

Breakfast will be served to you under the peaceful atmosphere of the White Desert National Park.

White Desert

The White Desert is famous for its extraordinary limestone formations, which have been shaped by wind erosion over thousands of years.

It has natural formations that look like castles, domes, mushrooms, minarets, and towering pillars that emerge out of the sands. This creates a surreal landscape that almost seems like it is out of this world

Among the most captivating sights you will experience here are the balancing white rock formations. These structures appear to disobey the law of gravity and are a masterpiece of nature.

Siwa Salt Lake

Then you will visit the breathtaking Salt Lake that is close to Siwa Oasis. The lake is popular due to its crystalline salt structures and stratified surfaces under the water level. The salinity level of this lake is high, which means that you can float easily.
