Your tour starts at the Giza Pyramids Complex, home to the world-famous pyramids built during Egypt's Fourth Dynasty. Explore the biggest and oldest of the three pyramids, the Great Pyramid of Khufu constructed between 2580- 2560 BC. Once risen to a height of approximately 146 meters, this remarkable monument embodies the genius of engineering and architectural accuracy with which ancient Egypt was built.
The Great Sphinx of Giza is a magnificent structure constructed out of limestone that has the body of a lion and also the face that is believed to represent Pharaoh Khafre. Our guide will explain its symbolism, mysteries, and the famous Dream Stele of Thutmose IV, which narrates a legend of the young prince and the dead Sphinx.
The second largest of the three pyramids on the Giza plateau is the pyramid of Khafre.
The pyramid was built as the royal tomb of Pharaoh Khafre in the fourth dynasty of the old kingdom. It is slightly smaller than the Great Pyramid, however, because of its higher level, it seems taller.
The pyramid was composed mainly of huge blocks of limestone but had granite features in the burial chamber and some of the important internal passages. This is indicative of highly-developed engineering skills of ancient Egyptian constructors. It was originally covered with smooth white Tura limestone which made it shine brightly in the desert sun.
The pyramid is the part of a bigger funerary complex that also contains the Valley Temple and the Great Sphinx and underlines the architectural and religious importance of the reign of Khafre.
Conclude your tour with a visit to the Egyptian Museum. The Egyptian Museum houses a brilliant collection of artifacts that spans over 5000 years of Egyptian history. Among its priceless treasures are artifacts that had remained undiscovered for over 3,500 years, until the 20th century, when most of them were discovered. The biggest and most valuable collection of ancient Egyptian art can be found in this museum. It offers a unique and personal glimpse into the life and accomplishments of this great civilization. With your expert guide by your side, the stories behind these masterpieces will vividly come to life.
After completing the tour, the team will transfer you to your hotel to relax and rest.
After breakfast, you will meet your Egyptologist guide arranged by Traviaz to explore explore the most popular sites in Alexandria.
Your tour starts with a visit to the remarkable Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa. The Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa are the most interesting archaeological sites in the city. The catacombs came to be accidentally discovered in 1900 after a donkey fell down a hole exposing the tombs. This is an underground burial complex that can be traced to the Roman era, and it demonstrates an outstanding blend of Egyptian, Greek and Roman architecture.
The last tour of the day will be to the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, the modern Library of Alexandria. This library is home to millions of books, manuscripts, museums, and cultural centres, thus symbolising Alexandria's enduring legacy as a centre of knowledge and learning.
